Solana Transaction Fees

~₹0.05typical base fee per transaction (0.000005 SOL)

Solana's base transaction fee is fixed and famously low — a fraction of a rupee, regardless of network activity, though optional priority fees apply during congestion.

How Solana fees work

Unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, Solana's base fee is fixed at 5,000 lamports (0.000005 SOL) per signature, not auction-based. This is what makes Solana attractive for high-frequency use cases like trading bots, gaming, and payments. During periods of extreme demand, users can optionally attach a priority fee to jump the queue, but the base cost stays essentially constant.

ChainTypical Fee
Solana~₹0.05 (0.000005 SOL)
Ethereum (L1)₹40 – ₹400+ depending on congestion
Bitcoin₹15 – ₹300+ depending on congestion
Polygon₹0.01 – ₹1

The tradeoff

Solana achieves this low, stable fee through a different architectural approach (Proof of History + high-throughput validators) than Ethereum or Bitcoin. This has made it popular for DeFi and consumer applications where per-transaction cost matters, though it has faced periodic network stability challenges under extreme load that fee-auction chains handle differently (fees simply rise instead).
