Bitcoin Transaction Fee Calculator

Estimate your BTC network fee based on current sat/vByte rates — the actual mechanism miners use to prioritize transactions.

How Bitcoin fees actually work

Bitcoin fees aren't a fixed percentage — they're a market. Every transaction competes for limited block space (roughly 1-4MB per block, produced every ~10 minutes), and miners prioritize whichever transactions offer the highest fee per unit of data, measured in satoshis per virtual byte (sat/vByte). During network congestion, this rate can spike from under 5 sat/vB to well over 100 sat/vB.

Reducing your fees

Using a wallet that supports SegWit or Taproot addresses reduces transaction size (and therefore fee) compared to legacy addresses. Batching multiple payments into one transaction, and avoiding sending during periods of network congestion, also meaningfully reduces cost.
